潇湘女性网www.hnwomen.org.cn湖南省妇联成立于1953年2月，是全省各族各界妇女的群众组织，也是中华全国妇女联合会的地方组织。基本职能是：代表和维护妇女权益，促进男女平等，促进各国妇女及妇女组织之间的友好交流与合作。 目前，全省14个市州，122个县市区、2065个乡镇、44816个村（社区）均建立妇女组织。省妇联机关设办公室、组织联络部、机关党委、宣传部、事业发展部、权益部、儿童部7个部室，下设今日女报社、湖南省妇女儿童活动中心、湖南省妇女儿童发展基金会3个直属单位，协管湖南女子学院、省妇女干部学校。省政府妇女儿童工作委员会办公室设在省妇联。 主要职能： （一）指导全省各级妇联依据《中华全国妇女联合会章程》和妇女代表大会的决定、决议，开展妇女儿童工作，联系团体会员，并给予业务指导。 （二）指导和推动全省农村妇女“双学双比”活动、城镇妇女“巾帼建功”活动和“五好文明家庭”创建活动。 （三）教育、引导广大妇女自尊、自信、自立、自强。宣传妇女典型，开展女性成才研讨，实施女性素质工程，促进妇女人才成长，全面提高妇女素质。 （四）维护妇女儿童
